Federal Minister for Minorities Affairs Shahbaz Bhatti Thursday urged the lawyers community to adopt the course of dialogue to resolve all outstanding issues instead of resorting to long march or sit-in. "I call upon all those political parties who are aiming to join the lawyers Long March to remain calm and let the government resolve the issues through dialogue with the lawyers community," he said.
The minister stated that the government believed in political reconciliation. However, he said this policy should not be dubbed as weakness of the government. The Minister urged the lawyers not to come on the roads, as this would further complicate the issue. "I would urge all the protesters not to distort law and order situation in the country on the pretext of long march or sit-in," the minister said.
He said all the democratic forces and political parties should get united to play their due role to strengthen the democratic system in the country. Bhatti said that the PPP had made tremendous struggle to restore democracy in the country under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari.-PR
