The Interior Ministry has cautioned Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) chief, Mian Nawaz Sharif and President PML-N Shahbaz Sharif about threats to their lives and advised them to avoid addressing public rallies. This was stated in a letter sent to Sharif brothers by Interior Ministry here on Thursday.
They were advised to avoid public appearances and stop addressing public rallies as threat exists to their lives. The letter revealed that there are possibilities of suicide attacks and remote controlled bombings besides target killings during the long march so that top leadership should avoid their appearance.
Intelligence information received in the Interior Ministry revealed that there are threats to lives of top political leadership, well placed sources in Interior Ministry told Business Recorder on Thursday. The security of Sharif brothers was enhanced to avoid any attack on their lives and Punjab Government was also directed to enhance the security of Sharif brothers and the places of public meeting where they address, they said.
They said according to information received from intelligence sources there are possibilities of terrorist attacks on public meetings and rallies so that long march will remain under big threat. Government is making efforts to convince the lawyers to postpone the long march as terrorists can infiltrate in the long march and cause huge men and material losses, sources said.
When asked about security measures Interior Ministry sources revealed that a foolproof security system was made and complete security machinery consisting of police, Punjab and Frontier constabularies, rangers and other law enforcement agencies are on high alert to meet any untoward situation. They said that security plan was finalised but still discussions are being made to make it further efficient.
