The President of the Catholic Association, Herbert Fernandes, has hailed the restoration of Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. In a statement here on Monday he lauded the announcement to this effect by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, on Monday.
He congratulated the Prime Minister for his historic announcement in this regard as well as for the release of political prisoners and the lifting of Section 144. Herbert also praised the unity displayed by the lawyers under the leadership of Ali Ahmed Kurd and Aitzaz Ahsan.
