The second death anniversary of Nisar Bazmi, one of the most iconic musicians of the country, was observed across the country on Sunday with due reverence. Bazmi was born in 1924 in Bombay, India and died at the age of 82 on March 22, 2007. His father was Syed Qudrat Ali. He had no musical background.
His first film, Jumna Paar was released in 1946 and immediately established him as a first-rate composer. Bazmi composed songs for more than 40 films in India (Jaib
Katra, Dagha baaz dost, Extra girl, Khaufnaak Aankhein), 28 of which were released before he migrated to Pakistan on June 21, 1962. In Pakistan, he started his career with the film Aisa bhi hota hai. His national songs were as popular as his film numbers. Bazmi composed music for 66 films in Pakistan. His first film was. Head Constable in 1964 and the last was Very good Duniya very bad log in 1998.
During his musical career in Pakistan, he composed many hit songs for Runa Laila, Ahmed Rushdi, Noor Jehan and Mehdi Hassan and received Nigar Awards as best composer for films Saiqa in 1968, Anjuman in 1970, Meri zindigi hai naghma in 1972, Khaak aur khoon in 1979 and Hum aik hain in 1986.
Some of his hit songs include Dil Dharke Me Tum Se Yeh Kese - Runa Laila, Ik husn ki devi say mujhay pyar hua tha - Mehdi Hasan, Ik Sitm Aur Meri Jaan Abhi Jaan Baqi Hai - Mehdi Hassan, Ranjish Hi Sahi Dil Hi Dukhane Ke Lie Aa - Mehdi Hassan, Ham Chale To Hamere Sang Sang Nizare Chale - Ikhlaq Ahmed, Barie mushkil sai huwa tera mera saath piya - NoorJehan. Haalat badal nahin saktey - Noor Jehan, Chalo acha huwa tum bhool gayey - Noor Jehan, Hum Zinda Quoom Hain, Khayal Rakhna, Aye Rooh-e-Quaid Aaj Ke Din, Ye Watan Tumhara Hai and many more.
