Secretary Social Welfare, Women Development and Bait-ul-Mal Punjab Muhammad Ayub Qazi has said that active and vibrant NGOs were rendering valuable services for the noble cause of humanity and development of social sector, the government would patronise such NGOs for sustainable social development.
He stated this while inspecting the welfare projects of different NGOs during his visit. He visited the main campus of local NGO Tanzeem Al-Lisan and examined the voluntary services for the education and training of the special children there. He took a round of the classes and reviewed the process of education for the special children.
He appreciated the welfare services being rendered by the NGO and said that it was a tough job to educate the disabled children and the NGOs working in special education sector were serving the society a lot. He said that community should come forward to assist such NGOs for their encouragement and generous co-operation should be extended for their welfare projects.
The Secretary directed the EDO Community Development to arrange the study tours for the NGOs working in special education sector to share the experience, skill and ideas for the uplift of this sector. He also visited the physiotherapy, vocational and audio-visual centres being run under the NGO and appreciated the facilities being provided to the special children.
President Tanzeem Al-Lisan Iftikhar Ahmed briefed the secretary about the services of being provided by the NGO and highlighted the performance and achievements for the welfare and betterment of special children. He said that more than thousand special children of different disabilities were being imparted with education, professional skills and other training in Al-Masoom, Danish and Sahara Centres being run by the NGO.
Later, the Secretary Social Welfare planted a sapling in the main campus of the NGO and held a meeting with the office bearers of the NGO and reviewed the issues and problems identified in the meeting. Earlier, the Secretary Social Welfare visited the welfare project of school system at Rasheedabad Ghulam Muhammabad being run by an NGO Hayat Foundation for the education of children of slum areas.
Expressing his views he said that the dream of the development could not be materialised without imparting the education to the new generation and NGOs rendering services in education sectors were sharing the burden of the Government. He appreciated the welfare projects of the NGO and assured every possible co-operation by the government.
Chairperson Hayat Foundation Dr Afshan Sultan briefed the Secretary about the welfare activities of the NGO. EDO Community Development Chaudhry Nawaz, Member Punjab Welfare Trust for Disabled Chaudhry Shabbir Ahmed DO Social Welfare Chaudhry Ashraf, District Manager Genders Reforms Programme Muhammad Ahsan and other officers of social welfare department were also present on the occasion.
