Pakistan Day was celebrated on Monday across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) with great enthusiasm, traditional fervour and devotion with the resolve to work for liberation of occupied Kashmir. The day dawned with special prayers at Fajr, in the mosques on both sides of the LoC.
They also prayed for the translation into reality of the resolution of 19 July 1947, adopted at the occupied Srinagar residence of Sardar Mohammad Ibrahim Khan. The people of Jammu and Kashmir state, living in Azad Kashmir and Indian held Kashmir plus elsewhere prayed for stability, security, affluence and progress of Pakistan and for the early success of the Kashmir freedom movement.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir people observed the day in a befitting manner. Pakistani flags were hoisted atop small and major private and public buildings. Various private social, political and public representative organisations managed special programmes to celebrate the day.
All the three Azad Jammu and Kashmir radio stations of Mirpur, Muzaffarabad and Tararkheil aired special programmes highlighting the importance of the day besides broadcasting special messages of AJK President Raja Zulqarnain Khan and Prime Minister Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan.
In Mirpur, a marathon cycle race was arranged by the local authorities and a friendly cricket match was also played between Kashmir Press Club Mirpur-XI and Veteran-XI at Quaid-e-Azam International sports stadium. Veteran-XI won the match by 26 runs. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Tayyeb was the chief guest.
Reports reaching here on Monday from across the line of control revealed that in spite of extra ordinary security measures coupled with restrictions and ban on gatherings, imposed by the Indian occupation forces as previous, people in various parts of the occupied Jammu Kashmir, particularly in the Muslim-dominated Kashmir valley and several parts of the Jammu region celebrated the Independence Day of Pakistan enthusiastically and in a befitting manner to reiterate their fullest solidarity and love with Pakistan since they consider Islamic Republic of Pakistan their sole destination in all respect.
People in occupied Jammu Kashmir hoisted Pakistans national flag atop their houses at various places, the report revealed. The Indian security forces, according to the reports, had taken stringent measures to foil the attempt of the occupied Kashmir people to hoist the Pakistani flags on their buildings on the occasion of Independence Day.
