The Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, in its meeting on March 19, recognised the contribution of two ministers - Mian Raza Rabbani and Sherry Rehman - who tendered their resignations due to differences with the leadership. Extending recognition to former colleagues is not part of the ECC agenda or within its terms of reference.
Sherry Rehman recently stated that some of the ministers were interfering in the matters of the Information Ministry, which was the main reason behind her resignation. However, Mian Raza Rabbani has not publicly given any reason, though there are reports that he was annoyed over nomination of Farooq H Naik as Senate Chairman.
