Amir Jamaat-i-Islami has announced sit-in in the Federal Capital if drones attacks in NWFP, Fata and Balochistan were not stopped. Addressing a news conference here on Wednesday, he said the attacks should be stopped throughout the country immediately, otherwise his party will issue a call to his workers and the masses for a sit-in in the Federal Capital and the date will be fixed later on.
"Masses will launch movement for the sovereignty and security of the country", he said. Qazi Hussain Ahmed also demanded trial of former President Pervez Musharraf on violation of the constitution under article-6 for high treason.
He further said that the lawyers and the political parties have agreed to strengthen the movement for the restoration of judiciary to 2nd November 2007 position and planned a sit-in programme. He said in Islamabad thousands of Jamaat-i-Islami workers were ready to participate in the sit-in.
He said thousands of JI workers were present in the long march started by Mian Nawaz Sharif. He said it was decided by the political parties that no negotiations will be held during the Long March, but some people were in contact. US Ambassador had also accelerated her role. He said Mian Shahbaz Sharif and Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan contacted him and both PML-N and Jamaat-i-Islami agreed that final decision will be made after the speech of the Prime Minister. The deposed judges were eventually restored and the Long March was called off.
Qazi Hussain Ahmed said he has reservations over the appointment of Abdul Hameed Dogar in which he was declared as constitutional Chief Justice and Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took the charge after his retirement. He said Munir A Malik told me that the lawyers have a stance that the actions of 3rd November were unconstitutional and they never accept Abdul Hameed Dogar as CJ.
JI Amir again reiterated his stance that government should try former President Pervez Musharraf under article 6 of the constitution and those decisions made during the period of Abdul Hameed Dogar would be declared as null and void and allow Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to work with the judges of 2nd November 2007. He said the Chief Justice should take concrete steps to eliminate corruption in the lower courts.
To a question, he said he does not think that PML-N will change its stance on 3rd November actions and the PCO judges. Regarding Swat agreement, he said the Islamic system should prevail everywhere in the country as enshrined in the constitution of the country.
He said he is ready to accept every condition for establishing peace, however the US aid cease lawlessness and chaos in the society and it should be stopped. About NRO, he said if he did not challenge it some one else will challenge it. He said under the NRO the sentences of some people were condoned which is against the justice.
