Tyre firm Continental said Thursday it will move its next works council meeting from northern France to the Riviera because at the last one angry workers burst in and pelted managers with eggs. "It seemed impossible to hold the works council meeting in Reims ... for obvious security reasons," a spokeswoman for the German-owned company said, adding that the meeting would be held in Nice on Tuesday.
Last week Continental workers burst into a management meeting in Reims and pelted their bosses with eggs to protest the closure of their plant at Clairoix, north of Paris.
