Arabica coffee futures rose to a 1-1/2 month high and US cocoa also climbed on Thursday as a weakened dollar and a commodities rally led by crude oil boosted the softs markets in thin trade, traders said. Arabica coffee for May delivery rose 1.90 cent, or 1.6 percent, to $1.1860 per lb., by 9:36 am EDT (1336 GMT). Session range from $1.1700 to $1.1920 per lb.
May volume at 4,527 lots. The rest ranged 1.80 cent to 2.35 cents higher. Benchmark May cocoa up $26 at $2,612 per tonne by 9:33 am. May volume at a light 1,670 lots. Session range from $2,591 to $2,626. The rest of the contracts up $16 to $34.
