The major opposition party in the Parliament, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) has decided in principle to remain calm and cool during the second Presidential address to the joint session of the Parliament on Saturday (today).
Sources told Business Recorder on Friday that Minister for Labour and Manpower, Khurshid Shah held a meeting with Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Ishaq Dar and sought PML-N co-operation during presidents address to the joint session of the Parliament.
Opposition leader in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has assured the PPP leader that his members would not agitate during President Asif Ali Zardaris address and decorum of the House would be maintained.
Khurshid Shah also took PML-N leaders into confidence regarding important announcements pertaining to Charter of Democracy (CoD) during Presidents address, it is learnt. President Zardari believes on the supremacy of the Parliament, he said, adding that this is the reason he wants to fulfil constitutional obligations by addressing the joint session of the Parliament.
The PML-N was flexing muscles to welcome President Zardari through slogans Go-Zrdari-go if the government had not restored the judges before Presidents address to the joint session. However, PML-N has also decided to evolve its future line of action after listening to the Presidents address to the Parliament if a solid timeframe was not given to implement CoD.
PML-N had a track-record of agitation against former military President General Pervez Musharraf during his address to the joint session of the parliament and he did not dare to turn up to the Parliament afterwards for fulfilling his constitutional obligation.
"It will be different and very different from if the government had not restored the judges including Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry...this time it would have been the same atmosphere as it was seen by Musharraf," remarked a PML-N lawmaker.
