Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Senator Mian Raza Rabbani has said that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani would soon advice President Asif Ali Zardari to lift the governors rule in Punjab. He was talking to the reporters at the Fifth Annual Award ceremony organised by the Alliance Against Sexual Harassment (AASHA) here on Friday.
He also said that in the past PPP was also the victim of governors rule in Sindh. He said that in Punjab governors rule was imposed to fulfil the gap after the Sharif brothers were disqualified by the Apex Court. The Peoples Party believes in the politics of reconciliation and politics of confrontation is not in the interest of the country, he added. On the question of not nominating him for the slot of the Chairman Senate by PPP, Raza said, "I have shown my reservation in the party about the matter."
He said that the people of Pakistan, Government of Pakistan and Parliament of Pakistan would not accept the drone approach. "Drone attack is an unproductive approach," he added.
Raza also said that we would fulfil all promises made by Benazir Bhutto. He warned the officials who were not implementing the orders and said that strict action would be taken against them. He was responding to the question that government employees were not restored despite directives by President Zardari. He also said that this ordinance would soon be passed by the parliament in the next session.
Guests on the occasion talked about the seriousness of the impact of the sexual harassment on the progress of the women. They also said that many girls had left their careers or education for the fear of abuse at work place or at the educational institutions. The ceremony was attended by famous actors Samina Peerzada, Usman Peerzada, Samina Ahmed. Intellectuals like Munnu Bhai and I A Rehman also graced the occasion.
