Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Ashfaq Parvaiz Kayani has left for Turkey to take part in third Trilateral Summit of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkey in Ankara. The third trilateral Summit being hosted by the Turkish President in Ankara on April 1, will discuss the Afghanistan situation.
On the sideline of the trilateral summit, General Kayani would also hold meetings with Military officials of Turkey to discuss the means to enhance the bilateral co-operation between two brotherly countries. He will also discuss the matters of bilateral interest and of professional mature with Turkish leadership.
General Kayani was seen off by Lieutenant General Tahir Mahmood, Corps Commander Rawalpindi and senior military officials at Chaklala Airbase. President Zardari will also take part in the Summit besides Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Afghan President Hamid Karzai. The first and second summit meetings were held in Ankara and Istanbul in April 2007 and December 2008 respectively.
