The government has promoted Air Vice-Marshals Tahir Rafique Butt and Farhat Hussain Khan to the rank of Air Marshal. According to DPR (Air) press release issued here on Wednesday, Air Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt was commissioned in Pakistan Air Force on 6 March, 1977 in GD (P) Branch.
He has qualified Flight Instructors Course, Combat Commanders Course, Turkish Air Staff Course and Armed Forces War Course. During his career he has commanded a fighters squadron, a fighters wing and two PAF bases. His key staff appointments include Deputy Director Plans, Director Flight Safety, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Personnel), Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Training), Director General NAB Frontier, Commandant National Security College at National Defence University, Islamabad and Air Officer Commanding Southern Air Command, Karachi. He has also served in Zimbabwe on deputation.
He is recipient of Hilalal-i-Imtiaz (Military), Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-i-Basalat. Air Marshal Farhat Hussain Khan was commissioned in Pakistan Air Force on 6 March 1977 in GD (P) branch. During his career he has commanded a fighters squadron, a fighters wing and an Operational Base. He is a graduate of Combat Commanders School, Air War Course and National Defence Course.
He has served in India as Air Attache. He has also served as Assistant Director General, Air Force Strategic Command and Chief Project Director (CPD) JF-17 at Air Headquarters, Islamabad and has been recently posted as Chairman Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Kamra. He is recipient of Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military), Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Sitara-i-Basalat.
