Rs 500 million CNG Bus project is likely to halt, as the Ministry of Environment is unnecessarily delaying the transfer of funds to Karachi Mass Transit Cell (KMTC), an operator of the proposed 500 buses. According to reliable sources, as the federal government has not allocated further fund for the project in the next budget, the money fixed for the project, would be freeze or go back to the federal government if the ministry delayed the payment till June 2009.
The fund for the project has been transferred into the accounts of ministry of environment recently and it was delaying its release to the KMTC, which has already completed and approved the PC-1 of the project.
