The 18 crew members led by two officers of Pakistani Naval Ships Badr and Nasr currently anchored at Port Klang, Malaysia, carried out community work at Alkhairiah Orphanage Klang. This was stated in a message received here from Kuala Lumpur on Sunday. Besides, a guided tour for the orphan children was also arranged to the ships.
The Pakistani ships are in Malaysia on a four-day visit starting from April 4 to bolster existing defence relations and goodwill between the two countries. The 18 crew members of the Pakistani Navy Ships Badr and Nasr, visited the Alkhairiah Orphanage at Klang and carried out community work including painting, cleaning and other refurbishing work at the institute. The officer incharge of the crew also distributed gifts and a souvenir to the 45 children being housed in the orphanage.
Later, the orphan children were transported to Port Klang where they were given guided tour of the two ships. The children were very excited to visit the Naval war ships for the first time and asked many questions about the ships.
The Alkhairiah Orphanage was established in 1904 by Haji Sirat, the founder of the institute, and is currently housing more than 45 orphan children. The management of the institute thanked Pakistan Navy for carrying out the welfare work at the orphanage, for the gifts to the children and for arranging their visit to the ships.
Both the Ships, were opened for visitors on Sunday. A large number of school children, expatriate Pakistani and people from all walks of life visited the ships. The public started visiting the ships from 12 noon and continue coming in a large number till late evening.
