The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has agreed in principle to demarcate 40 acres of land in National Park Area of Zone-II for the construction of a cricket stadium of international standard in the Federal Capital. The details of the agreement would be worked out as quickly as possible while a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be signed by the end of this month.
This was stated by Chairman CDA, Tariq Mahmood Khan during a meeting with the delegation of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) led by its Chairman, Ijaz Butt, here at CDA headquarters on Thursday. The idea of constructing a cricket stadium of international standard in the Federal Capital was discussed in the meeting. The PCB requested the CDA to demarcate a piece of land for the construction of cricket stadium in the Federal Capital.
The Chairman of the PCB said that PCB intends to have a stadium of international standard like the one in Dubai. The Chairman CDA said that CDA is a development agency and its responsibility is to provide civic facilities. The CDA would cooperate positively with PCB for construction of international standard stadium, he added.
The Chairman PCB said that the people of Pakistan are too keen about the cricket and we are endeavouring to spread cricket and provide facilities to the domestic cricketers. The meeting was attended by Member Estate, Brigadier Asad Munir (Retd), Member Finance, Saeed-ur-Rehman, Member Planning and Design Syed Tanvier Bukhari and other officials of the CDA.
