Decision to advance clocks by one-hour from 15th April would do more harm than good, so the existing time schedule ought to be allowed to continue, All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association, Vice Chairman Shabbir Ahmed stated this while talking to newsmen on Friday.
He stated that the recent decision to advance Pakistan Standard Time by one hour with effect from 15th April would disturb the working schedules rather than bringing about discipline and harmony in the official working. He further stated that the ongoing global economic scenario requires more attention towards increasing interaction with the major trading partners around the world, and by forwarding the clocks the interaction time with the Western Hemisphere would be further curtailed.
He further stated that the decision of advancement of time will not serve the purpose, as in our industry B-3 and above tariff meters are used in which timing can not be altered and peak hours are pre determined from before. The current time in these clocks varies with the Standard Time hence even the peak hours cannot be determined correctly.
He argued that in a country where literacy rate is very low and more that 65 percent of the population resides in rural areas, the timings of government offices and educational institutions ought to be so scheduled as to cause minimal confusion.
