The meeting of Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges was held, today, the 15th April 2009 in the Parliament House, Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Nadeem Afzal Chan.
The committee took up four privilege motions amongst which Motion of Anusha Rehman MNA regarding production of tempered document by Pakistan Cricket Board on the floor of the House in reply to un-starred question, was deferred till next meeting of the committee due to non-appearance of the Chairman PCB who was out of country and the concerned officials.
The committee decided to call Ijaz Butt, Chairman PCB, Shafqat Naghmi, the then Chief Operating Officer, PCB and Muhammad Nadeem Akram, Ex Director HR & Admn PCB for the next meeting.
The committee decided to issue bail able warrants of arrest of the Inspector General of Police, Punjab for his wilful non-appearance before the committee in reply to notice for appearance to answer allegations of his misbehaviour with Jamshaid Dasti, MNA. The committee took serious notice of his absence and adjourned the motion till next meeting of the committee.
While the committee disposed off the privilege motion of Sheikh Waqas Akram MNA, and other MNAs regarding slogans raised by the visitors sifting in the galleries during the speech of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, MNA, with recommendations that in future visitors should only be issued entry passes after due care and caution. Chairman of the Committee observed that sanctity of the House and Members should be maintained at any cost and no one should be allowed to enter the house to disgrace the members or the house.
Privilege Motion of Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur MNA and other against Vice Chancellor Liaqat Medical University, Jamshoro regarding his alleged remarks against the Parliamentarians was adjourned till next meeting of the
Committee with directions to Naushad A. Sheikh Vice Chancellor Liaqat Medical University, Jamshoro to publish his denial of such remarks in local newspapers and also to satisfy the movers. The Vice Chancellor submitted his unconditional apology before the Committee but the matter was adjourned till next meeting.
The meeting was attended by Nawab Muhammad Yusaf Talpur, syed Allaud Din, Mudassar Qayyum Nahra, Chaudhry Mahmood Bashir Virk, Rana Nazir ahmad Khan, Raja Muhammad Safdar Khan, Malki Nauman ahmad Langrial, Mlvi Agha Muhammad, and Mahmood Hayat Khan Tochi Khan, MNAs beside movers Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur, Mahesh Malani, Jamshaid Dasti, MNAs and the official from Ministries of Parliamentary Affairs, Health and Sports and the officials concerned.-PR
