Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that the government had launched a number of development projects worth billions of rupees for upgrading the standard of living of the people and the completion of these projects would surely usher them into a new era of progress and prosperity.
The CM expressed his views during a meeting of legislators of various districts held here on Wednesday. He further said that assembly members should not only take active part in the execution of welfare projects but also ensure their timely completion and a high standard of work.
He said that the number of registered tandoors under Sasti Roti scheme should be enhanced substantially so that maximum number of people could be facilitated. Moreover, he said that the Sasti Roti Programme had been initiated for providing relief to the unprivileged section of the society and this project would continue in future as well.
He said that an authority has been set up under MNA, Hanif Abbasi for effective implementation of this scheme and committees are being formed at district, tehsil, union council and mohallah levels for this purpose. He said that the project would be reviewed after six months and the provincial assembly member of the district, which obtained first position with regard to implementation of sasti roti scheme would be made a minister while the assembly members of the districts winning second and third position would be made advisor and special assistant respectively.
