The Helpline of Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP), 1915 has been equipped with modern technology to provide better services to the citizens. 'The help line 1915 of ITP has been equipped with latest facilities and road users can contact over the number, in case of any problem or for any suggestion to improve the traffic flow on roads of Islamabad.'
The Senior Superintendent of Traffic Police, Dr Sultan Azam Temuri said while reviewing the performance of ITP's help units during the last three months on Wednesday. The SSP Traffic said that `recovery van' has also been added to the facilities to provide help to the citizens, whether deserted on roads or facing any other problem.
It is worth mentioning that the ITP has set up four help units to help citizens round the clock. A three-month report of these help units revealed that a total of 3061 citizens were provided with help on roads. Out of which, 1332 motorists were assisted after break down of their vehicles on roads, while 387 were given assistance as they ran out of fuel.
Similarly, 15 citizens were given conveyance to reach their destinations, 495 vehicles were shifted to the workshop and 262 vehicles were pushed to start. Further, a total of 344 citizens were assisted after getting their vehicles punctured, 52 were helped in crossing the roads, 19 were shifted to hospital for medical treatment, 71 were given required information, while other 150 were provided with help in miscellaneous cases.
Besides helping citizens on road, the ITP cops also remained vigilant against the anti-social elements. One of the ITP Inspector, Zulfiqar arrested a person who was trying to flee after snatching mobile phone and cash from a lady near Karachi Company. Later, the accused was handed over to Margallah police station. An ITP officer arrested a pickpocket from Pirwadhai and handed over him to Sabzi Mandi police station.
The SSP Traffic, while reviewing the report, has appreciated the performance of the staff and said it is our duty to assist and provide protection to the citizens. He urged the police officials to serve citizens in a noble way and enrich the image of friendly policing of ITP. The SSP Traffic also appealed the citizens to cooperate with traffic police for better traffic discipline on roads.-PR
