The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has decided to shift its offices from OPF Complex to Serena Hotel Office Complex to assure complete security of the staff. The decision was made in the wake of increasing terror strikes in Pakistan along with threats and security concerns by the ADB's top management, sources told Business Recorder on Thursday.
They said that the offices of the ADB were shifted to the fortified five star hotel, Serena, situated in Red Zone, the high security area in Islamabad, where no private and public service vehicles are allowed. Sources also said that the ADB officials and people working in other foreign missions were receiving threatening calls.
The Bank authorities were running the affairs by using emails. The Bank has directed the officials to make sure the change of routes while coming to work to avert any possible attack. When contacted, the Spokesman of the ADB in Pakistan told Business Recorder that the contract of the office building has expired and for this the Bank has shifted its offices to Serena.
'We have not shifted to the Serena Hotel but in the Office Complex constructed inside the Serena Hotel,' he added. Further, he said that the security is also a reason, as increasing terror strikes are point of concern for everyone and every organisation wants safety and security of its people.
