The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) in occupied Kashmir, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, while terming the crackdown on Hurriyet leaders and activists undemocratic, said that they would continue poll boycott campaign.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in occupied Srinagar said that by placing the liberation leaders under illegal house arrest the authorities had accepted defeat in the occupied territory. 'The same ploy was used to crush our anti-poll drive during the Assembly elections,' Mirwaiz said, adding that the occupation authorities had arrested many Hurriyet leaders and activists.
The APHC Chairman said that in the name of maintaining law and order situation, the authorities prevented Muslims from performing their religious duties and even not allowed them to offer Friday prayers. Senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, who is under house arrest for the past three weeks, said that the puppet administration was misusing its powers.
'New Delhi is frustrated by our anti-election campaign and wants to crush the sentiment of Azadi by keeping the liberation leaders under house arrest but it would never succeed in its nefarious designs. It is high time for the government of India to be realistic and acknowledge the just struggle of Kashmiris for their right to self-determination, he added.
Meanwhile, senior APHC leaders, Maulana Abbas Ansari and Agha Hasan Al- Moosvi in their separate addresses to public gatherings in Sringar and Badgam respectively condemned the illegal house arrest of Hurriyet leaders. Likewise, Muslim Khawateen Markaz Jammu and Kashmir and Jammu Kashmir Mahaz-e-Azadi in their separate statements have also expressed concern over the illegal house arrest of liberation leaders.
