Leader of the House in the Senate, Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari said on Sunday nuclear assets of the country are in safe hands. 'These are our valuable assets and it is the obligation and right of every citizen to protect them,' he said while addressing the participants after administrating oath of the newly elected office bearers of the Traders Action Committee.
'Founder of Pakistan People's Party (PPP), Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto had given the nuclear programme to the country and its people as a gift,' he said. Bokhari said the PPP believes in the politics of reconciliation, as the country cannot afford the politics of confrontation at this crucial juncture. To achieve this objective, top leadership of the country, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani have vowed to take all the political forces on board in the national interest, he added.
Keeping this policy in view, Bokhari said the PPP started the politics of negotiation and actively participated in the polls on February 18 in the country's interest. 'The government and people of this country would never surrender to terrorist and extremist elements and will provide a good environment to our children,' Bokhari believed.
He said that in the year 1996, the PPP government had set up Model Schools in the Federal Capital and after that no school had been established so far.
Further, he assured government's full support to the traders action committee. 'I want that the Rent Control Act in Islamabad should be tabled in the National Assembly as the government's bill for its passage from the House,' he stated.
Further, he said the traders are the backbone of the country's economy and their problems would be resolved on priority basis. Bokhari urged the traders to initiate hospitals and schools projects for their children and assured that the government would support the move.
He also asked the traders to form a committee to discuss all the issue with the CDA board. Earlier, Nayyar Bokhari administered the oath of the newly elected office bearers of the Traders Action Committee and expressed the hope that they would come up to the expectations of the business community and work for their welfare.
