Malaysian shares closed up 0.18 percent on Wednesday amid buying interest in selected heavyweights despite concerns over swine flu, dealers said. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index gained 1.76 points to 967.46 on volume of 1.051 billion shares worth 931.5287 million ringgit (259 million dollars).
"Sentiment was also aided by gains in regional markets," a dealer told Dow Jones Newswires. "The pullback in share prices over the last two days helped to correct the market's overbought condition," the dealer added. Among gainers, UEM Land rose 6.1 percent to 1.04 ringgit and MRCB was up 6.8 percent at 1.10 ringgit. On the downside, Sime fell 0.8 percent to 6.40 ringgit and Tenaga was down 0.7 percent at 7.10 ringgit.
