Additional Secretary General of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and former Deputy Speaker of National Assembly Chaudhry Jaffer Iqbal has said that conspiracies are being hatched against Pakistan and if the nation forges unity in its ranks, there will no threat to its sovereignty.
The PML-N leader said here on Thursday that nobody would be allowed to weaken Pakistan's nuclear capability in the wake of extremism. He said the country's institutions were competent enough to protect its nuclear assets, therefore, the misleading propaganda in this regard should be stopped by the Western powers. "If we did not forge unity, we would not gain anything except crying over the spilt milk," he added.
Jaffer Iqbal said the US wanted to take revenge of her defeat in Afghanistan from Pakistan, while the activities of Nato forces were basic cause of terrorism and instability in the region. He said without the withdrawal of US forces and its allies from Afghanistan, the peace could not be achieved in the region, including Pakistan.
He said the armed forces of Pakistan alone could overcome extremists and internal challenges, hence no one should worry. He said that Pakistan was facing dangers to its integrity due to ill-conceived policies of Pervez Musharraf, therefore, a national conference as proposed by the PML-N Quaid should be convened. He said the US should not think of getting benefits by creating unrest in Pakistan and it would be the absurdity of enemies to have access to its nuclear assets.
