Renowned scientist and member of Planning Commission for Science and Technology Dr Sammar Mubarakmand and Senior Chief (S&T) Dr M. Ashraf Moten visited University of Sindh and met with the Vice Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui on Friday.
The Vice Chancellor welcomed the delegation of the Planning Commission and renowned scientist at the University and briefed them that since 2001 the Sindh University's assets as well as population of students increased 100 per cent and also expressed thanks to Higher Education Commission for liberal funding to the University.
Dr Sammar Mubarakmand on this occasion expressed satisfaction on overall development in Higher Education sector and said that HEC has played very significant role in this regard. He also appreciated development in the University of Sindh and projects completed by the University within stipulated timeframe. The delegation also attended a briefing by Planning and Development University of Sindh.
The Advisor Planning and Development M. Hussain Shaikh in his presentation informed that the University has received total 10 projects of Rs 941.350 Millions. He said that total Rs 819.575 millions were released while the University has utilised Rs 790.130 millions.
He said that most of the projects of the University were completed within time while two ongoing construction projects would be completed by June 2009. He further informed that 20 faculty members out of 40 would be returning up to September 2009 after completing their Ph. D from abroad Universities. Shaikh also briefed the future planning in terms of the University projects and said that the University has submitted new Mega Project of the cost of Rs 2.5 Billion.
