The Karachi Port handled 124,873 tonnes of cargo including 98,614 tonnes of import and 26,259 tonnes of export, 3,528 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Saturday.
The freights comprised of 81,912 tonnes of dry cargo including 38,928 tonnes of general cargo; 7,118 tonnes of cement; 1,014 tonnes of sugar; 5,084 tonnes of scrap; 26,675 tonnes of coal; 3,093 tonnes of rice and 42,961 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Five ships namely viz Hyundai Emperor, Bright Dream, Harma, Silver Craft and Botany Tribute sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Four vessels namely Botany Tribute, Guler B, YM inventive and Saigon Express are currently at the berths to load/off load tankers, cement and containers respectively. Four ships namely Gulf Tiger, Kota Layar, Hyun Jin KS 3 and YM Inventive are expected to sail on Saturday. While three more ships namely Saigon Express, Uni-Angel and H&H Tide are expected to sail on Sunday.
Seven vessels viz SC Liaoning, Uni-Angel, Shayan 1, Queen Arrow II, Megah Cement, Houma Belle and Fabulous due to arrive on Saturday, carrying orthoxylene, containers, cement, steel and clinkers respectively. While six more ships MT Swat, Thomas Mann, bunga Raya Satu, Al Manakh, Eponyma and Glory River are due to arrive on Sunday, carrying crude oil, containers and cement respectively.
Three ships namely CV Lahore Express, MT Gas Emperor and MV Orient-III sailed out to sea during last 24 hours. While five more ships CV Maersk Novazzano, MT Indradi, MT SC Liaoning, MT Al-Salam-II and MT Bunga Melati-4 are expected to sail on the same day.
Nine ships namely CV Maersk Novazzano,CV Lahore Express, MV Princes Layan, MV Dolphine, MV Iran Kermanshah, MT Indradi, MT SC Liaoning, MT Bunga Melati-4 and MT Al-Salam-II carrying containers, cement, canola seeds, chemicals, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during reported period.
Six vessels namely Dez Hou Hai, Bolan, Ashraf-B, Syria Star, Sea star and Laila queen carrying rape seeds and cement are currently at the outer anchorage. Two ships namely Al-Manakh and MT Chemstar King scheduled to take berths at Container Terminal and Engro Terminal carrying container and chemicals respectively on Saturday. While three more ships namely MV Zenobia, MT Sea Frontier and MT Tai Yoh-II are due to arrive to load/offload rice, palm oil and diesel oil at Port Qasim on the same day respectively.
