The Anti Vehicles Lifting Staff, Sadar Division, Lahore, has unearthed a gang of car lifters and has recovered nine cars, one Pick up and latest weaponry, worth Rs 50,00000, from the members of the gang. During initial investigation, the three arrested culprits have revealed committing as many as 79 vehicles thefts in districts of Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat and Jehlum.
According to the details, the Capital City Police Officer, Muhammad Pervez Rathore, directed DIG Investigation Lahore Dr Shoaib Dastageer, SSP Investigation Zulfiqar Hameed and SP Organised Crime Muhammad Umer Virk to take strict action in order to eradicate car thefts from the city. A special team, headed by SP CIA Ijaz Shafi Dogar and DSP Anti Vehicles Lifting Staff Lahore, was assigned formidable task of arresting these car thieves. After working day and night, the special Anti Vehicle Lifting Staff was successful in arresting three culprits of Raja car stealing gang, including Muhammad Irfan alias Raja, Muhammad Munir and Liaqat Ali alias Malik Gul.
The culprits have revealed that they have stolen 36 vehicles from district Lahore, 20 vehicles from Gujrat, 18 vehicles from Jehlum and 5 vehicles from Gujranwala. The modus operandi of the culprits was that they used to rent cars, especially Corolla XLI, from different cities and would roam about in various streets of different areas and, wherever they would spot a vehicle of their choice, they would steal it with the help of a master key.
After stealing precious cars of citizens, they would reach a resident of district Naushahra NWFP, Haroon Badshah, to whom they would sell the vehicles on cheaper rates and spend money on merrymaking. As many as 36 cases have also been traced against the culprits in different police stations of the city. Further investigation is underway. Capital City Police Officer, Muhammad Pervez Rathore has announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for Anti Vehicles Lifting Staff on arresting the culprits and displaying an outstanding team work.
