US rice futures closed firm on Thursday on support from a weak dollar and light short-covering. CBOT July rice closed 1-1/2 cents per cwt higher at $12.12-1/2. Weekly world market rice prices unchanged from the previous announcement-USDA. High prices tempt India rice growers to plant cotton.
