To help Pakistan government to meet the daily needs of ever-growing number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Swat and adjoining areas, the Chinese government has announced 30 million Renminbi (RMB/Yuan) further assistance for the affected people, Pakistan Ambassador to China Masood Khan said here on Saturday.
He said that Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Luo Zhao Hui called on Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in Islamabad on Saturday and presented him a cheque for one million dollars for PM's Special Fund for Relief of Victims of Terrorism.
"This is another example of our strong friendship, as both the countries are committed to stand together at the time of suffering," Ambassador Khan said. China, Khan said that now all together contributed around 5.4 million dollars for the IDPs. "The people of Pakistan are grateful to our Chinese brothers for their generous contribution for the displaced people as the country is facing one of the biggest exodus in the present time," he said.
