Agence France-Presse (AFP) on May 19 launched ¡Futbol Ya!, a Spanish-language customisable mobile phone application, featuring up-to-the-minute football news and photos from around the world.
The smartphone platform provided by mobile software company PointAbout allows Hispanic media outlets to plug local advertising and news feeds into the application, in addition to AFP feeds, to customise the look and branding.
"This complete Spanish-language soccer app promises to bring users always current, always illustrated news from the world of football," AFP said in a statement. "¡Futbol Ya!" is available now for Apple's iPhone and coming soon to mobile phones powered by Android software and other operating systems.
