Normalcy is fast returning to Mingora and efforts are afoot to make sure supply of food and medicines to the people of the war-torn region, said spokesman of Directorate-General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) here on Monday.
According to the ISPR spokesman, 18 terrorist have been killed and 13 arrested in different parts of Swat and South Waziristan during the last 24 hours of operation, "Rah e Raast," while two soldiers embraced martyrdom and four civilians with the same number of soldiers were injured. Security forces launched the operation to secure Charbagh and vital areas, linking Kabbal with Sirsanai.
After heavy clashes with the terrorists, the security forces captured Jungle Jerki. In Peochar, security forces carried out search operation and destroyed miscreants' training centre. According to the ISPR spokesman, during the operation 50-60-foot long newly constructed tunnel was destroyed and newly planted improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were neutralised.
Besides, huge quantity of weapons was also destroyed, while one soldier was injured and nine terrorists killed during exchange of fire between the terrorists and security forces. The security forces started military operation in Shalwa Kandao and captured mountains, east of Waliabad, and moved towards Guliabad (north of Charbagh). At Fatehpur, one terrorist was killed during exchange of fire.
The security forces also killed three terrorists and arrested seven while capturing miscreants' hideouts at Kalagai. The terrorists attacked checkpost at Ranial, during which heavy exchange of fire took place in which three soldiers and four civilians were injured while five terrorists were killed.
In South Waziristan Agency, terrorists fired rockets at security forces at Nizh Narai, Khwaja Khidar Fort near Angoor Adda, in which two soldiers were martyred. About the relief operation and other supportive activities by the army, the ISPR spokesman said that five trucks carrying 25 tons of rations for the trapped people at Khwazakhela were dispatched. Whereas two trucks of relief goods were dispatched for the IDPs at Thana and Chakdara.
