Malaysian shares fall

Malaysian shares closed down 0.10 percent on Tuesday on selling in blue chips including top bank Maybank, dealers said. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index lost 1.06 points to 1,071.79. Losers outnumbered gainers 311 to 306. "Sustained selling in blue chips and index-linked issues outweighed gains in plantation, construction and some consumer related stocks," a dealer at a bank-backed brokerage told Dow Jones Newswires.
"Retail investors were fairly active, driving up some laggard plays but there was a lack of conviction among investors," he added. Among losers, Maybank was down 2.70 percent to 5.45 ringgit while Bumiputra Commerce lost 1.10 percent to 8.95. On the upside, Hovid added 36 percent to 0.34 ringgit and Dialog gained 5.0 percent to 1.26.
