Socio-political circles have appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister to take immediate action for purging revenue department from gigantic corruption as a result of which the people were facing serious hardships in Sialkot district.
The corruption is at peak in local revenue department because Patwaris had become kings busy in money making and fleecing the people by showing their muscles and threatening for the dire consequences. The high ups of revenue department were also depriving the people in the name of "Commission" for settlement of the cases and the members of the so-called commission were belonging to revenue department and people were unable to fulfil their demands for their legal work.
These circles alleged that the political leaders including MPAs and MNAs are backing these corrupt officers as a result of which the rate of corruption was increasing with every passing day. The circles have also appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister that all overstayed officers should immediately be transferred from Sialkot saving the skin of the masses.
Patwaris were involved in transferring the Provincial and federal government land on bogus documentation to the Qabzah groups in Sialkot. Despite of the complaints the concerned officers have failed to take any action against the corrupt Patwaris in Sialkot district.
According to available information most of the Patwaris had become the owners of petrol pumps and other highly valued property including costly vehicles in Sialkot. Socio-Political circles seek quick action that has become more imperative at this juncture for purging the revenue department from black sheep and corruption to facilitate the common man.
They also suggested that appropriate steps should be taken for ascertaining the assets of the Patwaris, which would help the government in assessing the scale of corruption in the revenue department. Expressing the confidence they said that Punjab Chief Minister would take instantaneous action for complete overhauling and weeding out the corruption from the local department as well as to hold the probe in Patwaris affairs.
