Foreign Minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that Indian government wants to resume dialogue with Pakistan government, and the prevailing tension between the neighbouring countries after Mumbai attacks has become normal. He said that it is hinted from the statements of Indian PM and his Foreign Minister that they are serious to bring the situation between the two countries to normal, which is a positive sign.
He said: "We will solve the problem of water dispute in the light of Indian government statements, according to the Indus Water Treaty. Talking to media men at the airport here on Wednesday morning, Qureshi said that Pakistan is talking to US government to get the drone technology. He termed the statement of US President Obama a positive one, and said that a clear change has been observed in his policy and he has also mentioned to talk with Iran and to solve the issue of Palestine.
The FM said that some politicians criticised the US government but it is also a fact that in this hour of need US has provided the aid of $330 million, which is bigger than the aids provided by other countries. "US will allocate special funds for Pakistan in its next budget", he added. World Bank and IMF hold positive views about Pakistan, and are ready to provide aids, he said.
About the displaced persons of Swat and Malakand, he said that at the moment the problem is to resettle about 2 million IDPs in their homes, "but first we will ensure to provide water, gas and electricity in their respective areas before sending them back".
He added that terrorism is not the problem of Pakistan alone but an international issue. He appreciated the strategy of the Army and said that it has controlled the situation tactfully and that only nine houses were affected by the operation. He said that Balochistan is full of natural resources and to put sanctions on international companies by the Balochistan government is not in their favour. He said that only international companies could better utilise the natural resources.
He said that the federal government is providing resources to Balochistan government on priority basis. About Bhasha dam, he said that Asian Development Bank (ADB) is investing a huge amount in the construction of this dam. MPA Dr Akhtar Malik was also present on the occasion.
