I am pleased to know that the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) have kept the tradition of giving Best Corporate Report Awards. These awards are greatly valued and are encouraging companies to disclose maximum information in a timely organised manner.
A significant part of SECP's reform agenda is targeted at improving the quality of information disclosed in companies annual reports as well as enhancing the quality of the auditing process. These efforts are aimed at fostering investor's confidence that will provide necessary stimulus for further development of the country's capital market and corporate sector. In order to ensure concerted efforts by all concerned, the SEC has also instituted co-ordination committees with ICAP and ICMAP, which will help to further augment transparency in reporting as well as oversight of the accountancy and auditing professions.
I extend my heartiest congratulations to both the accountancy bodies that have organised this event. For those who were not able to receive the award this year, I encourage them to further improve the quality of their annual reports and to the winners, I wish to extend my felicitation and hope that they will continue to achieve excellence in corporate reporting in the years to come.
