NWFP Minister for Environment, Wajid Ali Khan has said that relief activities will continue till the return of displaced persons to their homes. Talking to Voice of America (VOA) he said the provincial government is trying to ask people to return to their areas by June 20, as situation is now normal up to Mingora.
The necessary services and facilities including power and gas have been restored in those areas. Transparent utilisation of all donations and funds for the affected people is being ensured, he said. He said that most of the IDPs are residing with their relatives. The basic facilities are being provided in the camps. The work to distribute Rs 25000 cash has been started.
The people of Khawazakhela and Kalam areas have been asked to return. I think the present operation in Malakand division is in its final Phase, he added. "We expect that the people will soon return to their areas. As far as displacement in South Waziristan in concerned, FATA is a federal subject and I do not have sufficient knowledge about the arrangements made by the federal government to accommodate people of Tribal areas" he said. To a question he said that Nadra has resolve the issue by using its record. Now, people will be able to get help from one point.
