The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL), Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob on Tuesday strongly denounced the illegal detention of Hurriyet leaders. According to Kashmir Media Service, Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob in a statement issued in occupied Srinagar said that India had been suppressing the ongoing movement through use of force but the people of occupied Kashmir had determined to continue their liberation struggle till its logical conclusion.
He demanded immediate release of Syed Ali Gilani, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Aasiya Andrabi, Naeem Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Mohammad Yousuf Mir and Muhammad Saleem Nunnaji.
The JKPL Chairman said that Kashmir was a political issue, which could be resolved through political means, adding that only tripartite talks could settle the long-standing occupied Kashmir dispute. "Peace in South Asia cannot be restored unless and until the occupied Kashmir dispute is addressed seriously because it is only peace, which can guarantee the prosperity and development in the region," he maintained.
