Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Parliamentary leader of MQM, Dr Farooq Sattar has said that apparently, the persons arrested in Saudi Arabia are innocent while the travel agent seems to be the real culprit. In this regard a request has been forwarded to the Saudi Ambassador in Pakistan to delay the progress on the case till the completion of investigation by the Government of Pakistan.
He made these remarks while briefing the media, after holding a meeting with the Saudi Ambassador, here on Wednesday. He informed the media persons that during his meeting with the ambassador he handed over a letter to the envoy asking for the delay of the case, so that in the meanwhile, Pakistani authorities may complete their investigation and nab the real culprit.
The envoy ensured his full co-operation in this regard; however, he requested the government of Pakistan to hand over the real offender to the Saudi authorities. The minister assured the ambassador to raise the issue with the Prime Minister. The Minister told the journalists that the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis has taken up the issue with the Ministries of Interior, Foreign Affairs and Anti-Narcotics Control.
Moreover, the also raised the issue in the cabinet meeting earlier this afternoon. He also told the media persons that the family members of the arrested persons are coming to Islamabad from Karachi to hold a meeting with the Saudi envoy and their boarding and lodging is being arranged by the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and MQM.-PR
