Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) has spent Rs 1709.946 million on implementing 4242 LT proposals under system augmentation programme from July 2008 to April 2009. In this programme transformers were added and upgraded, HT-LT lines were also added and maintained to revamp power supply system.
According to a Pepco statement, this system augmentation programme will facilitate smooth power supply, minimise and tackle the problems of power interruptions and low voltages, by strengthening the infrastructure, which emerges due to consumption of undeclared load by the consumers and thus puts the system under lot of stress.
As regards the power load update for 16th June 2009, the total demand of electricity remained 13445 MW and no deficit of power was recorded and was managed efficiently. Last year on the same day the shortfall was 3902 MW. It is pertinent to note that with all its load management Pepco exported 610 MW electricity to KESC, whereas last year on the same day the export was 550 MW.
