The best way to pay tribute to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto on her birth anniversary is to renew commitments to follow her thought and revolutionary ideas for the country's progress, Central Secretary Information, Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Fauzia Wahab said this in connection with Benazir's 56th birth anniversary.
"Today is the birth anniversary of our great leader Shaheed Benazir Bhutto who is not present among us but her ideas, thoughts and philosophy will guide the coming generations", she said. Her revolutionary ideas will remain alive in the hearts of the people and guide them in their lives, Fauzia said.
"The day is to renew the promise which we made with Pakistan People's Party Chairman Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and his daughter Shaheed Benazir Bhutto", Fauzia said. Zulfiqar Bhutto made efforts for strengthening of democratic norms in the country and launched revolt against dictatorship. Similarly, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto sacrificed her life as an effort to liberate the country from the clutches of dictators and revive true democratic system in the country. Today is the day to pay tribute to our great leaders for their unforgettable contributions.
History reveals that a revolutionary way is always required for fighting against authoritative dictators. Dictatorship ends when people have freedom of expression and thoughts, she observed. Involvement of armed forces in country's politics can be avoided through promoting democratic culture and tradition and instilling tolerance among people, she opined.
Democracy is the symbol of a live nation and Benazir Bhutto always considered masses the most powerful source. She knew that only a democratic country can acquire prominent place among international community. It was BB's desire that Pakistani masses must be given freedom of thought, expression and in time justice. She wished to put the country on the path of progress and prosperity when she returned to her country with such dreams in her eyes.
PPP, on the birth anniversary of its great leader, pledges to eliminate terrorism, extremism and social imbalances from the country. "We will fulfil BB's dream of a prosperous Pakistan under the dynamic leadership of party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari", she said.
