District Government Hyderabad arranged a walk in collaboration with Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) to observe International Narcotics Day held here on Friday. The walk started from Gymkhana and culminated at Hyderabad Press Club. Addressing the participants, District Nazim Hyderabad Kanwar Naveed Jamil stressed people to wage war against the drug abuse.
During the walk, banners and posters inscribed with anti-drug messages were displayed and distributed among the participants. He said joint efforts were needed to save people from the drug menace. District Nazim Kanwar Naveed said that people should combat drug addiction menace with religious fervour, which had played havoc with the young generation.
Kanwar Naveed jamil said that use of narcotics is a social curse and the masses, especially the youth, should realise that this menace not only causes mental and physical damage, but also destroys the addicts' family and obviously harms society as a whole.
He also said that students should play a leading role in creating awareness against the narcotics menace. Kanwar Naveed also appealed to teachers and parents to keep a vigilant eye on the activities of their children and educate them against narcotics. District Co-ordination Officer Hyderabad Aftab Ahmed Khatri, Assistant Director, Anti-Norcotics of Sindh, Asmatullah Khan, Dr Muhammad Qasim Barohi and others also spoke on the occasion.
