The much needed combined water inflows in the country's four rivers Indus, Jhelum, Kabul and Chenab rose to 0.3 million cusecs on Friday, almost 0.1 million cusecs more in a week that may help overcome water shortage for Kharif crops in the four provinces.
According to river flows and reservations level report issued by Wapda here, the river inflow in River Indus at Tarbela is 1,54,800 cusecs, river Kabul at Nowshera 46,000 cusecs, Jhelum at Mangla 50,800 and Chenab at Marala 47200 cusecs.
Meteorological department told Business Recorder that water flows have increased due to dry weather and rise in temperatures in upper catchments due to melting of snow and the glaciers. It said though dry weather with heat wave condition is expected in most parts of the country yet scattered dust-thundershowers may occur in Karachi, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Sukkar and Mirpur Khas divisions during next 24-hours.
