'No US money being used on nuclear command and control systems'

Pakistan on Monday rejected as "malafide" reports that US money was being used to enhance safety and security of country's nuclear programme, saying its command and control systems were completely indigenous. "We are fully capable of looking after the safety and security of our strategic assets ourselves," a statement from Foreign Office said.
The spokesman termed the news report claiming that the United States was helping modernise Pakistan's nuclear arsenal, as "totally baseless." "We have never sought the advice of any US expert in this regard," he said. The spokesman categorically stated that there was no truth whatsoever that any US money has been diverted towards Pakistan's nuclear programme. "Such unwarranted and unfounded assertions that keep appearing from time to time are clearly malafide, desperately trying to raise apprehensions about the safety and security of Pakistan's nuclear programme."
He, however stressed that such efforts were bound to fail as the government and people of Pakistan were resolved to protect the sanctity of Pakistan's nuclear programme under all circumstances. Foreign Office said Pakistan's position on the expansion of UNSC was anchored in principles and was not country-specific.
