The Ahmed Zai tribes of South Waziristan Agency on Thursday announced to stand by with the peace agreement of 2007 and will co-operate with the government for restoration of peace and tranquillity in the agency. The tribesmen and Taliban commander Molvi Nazir announced to keep the agreement intact in large interests of the tribesmen and will fully co-operate with the security forces and no attack will be launched against them.
These decisions were taken during a Jirga after a successful talks between Ahmed Wazir tribes peace committee consisting of 120 members and local Taliban commander Maulvi Nazir. The successful Jirga was held at the office of Assistant Political Agent Syed Abdul Ghafoor at Garmai Wana where 120 eminent elders of Ahmedzai tribes and officials of political authorities attended.
The Jirga was attended by Political Agent Syed Shahab Ali Shah, APA Wana Syed Ghafoor Shah while Malik Ghazi Khan, Malik Ajmal Wazir along with 120 noted tribesmen of Ahmedzai Wazir. The Jirga member Malik Ghazi Muhammad and Malik Sorat Khan told reporters that Molvi Nazir has agreed to stand by 2007 peace agreement keeping in view the situation in the Agency and will work for peace in Wana under the prevailing laws.
The Jirga also announced to fully co-operate with government and security forces and will not attack on law enforcing agencies and restored the 2007 peace agreement. The political administration on good will gesture handed over six tribesmen to Jirga. The political agent Syed Shahab Ali Shah also confirmed of keeping the peace agreement intact. The tribesmen said that it would greatly help restore peace in the agency and will help flushing out the menace of terrorism and militancy.
