LHC allows merger of fire department with rescue 1122

The Lahore High Court (LHC) while dismissing a petition filed against merger of fire fighting department into rescue 1122 service, observed that amalgamation of two departments would provide better facilities to people. The petition filed by Fire Brigade Inqalabi Union argued that the department had served the people over the decades and it had its own equipment and staff.
A representative of Rescue 1122 told the court that the merger would help improve the efficiency of fire fighters. He said it had happened on numerous occasions that emergency staff reached the building under fire within seven minutes and started rescue operation. The service had been launched in 12 cities while by October it would be set up throughout Punjab. The court after hearing the all sides dismissed the petition saying the law does allow merger.
