President Asif Ali Zardari has sought international community's generous support for rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) saying that massive flow of global funds is necessary to undertake the 2nd phase of IDPs' rehabilitation.
The areas which remained under military operation have been cleared while the IDPs were being informed through media to return to the cleared areas, the President said while talking to UN Under-Secretary General's Co-ordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief John Holmes, who called on him at Aiwan e Sadr on Friday.
The President while appreciating the humanitarian work of the UN agencies said that IDPs will start returning to their homes from Monday in areas that have already been cleared and secured by the security forces. He thanked the UN for garner support and assistance for the displaced people. The UN under Secretary General thanked the President for the co-operation by the Government of Pakistan in UN relief operations and assured the President of UN's full support in the long-term development of the affected areas.
