Government announces extended Eid holidays

The government has announced four-day holiday on account of Eid-ul-Azha from September 1 to September 4, according to a notification issued on Wednesday. Earlier, it was expected that the Eid holidays will lie on weekend.

According to the interior ministry notification all public and private offices would remain closed from September 1 to 4 (Friday to Monday).

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced that Zil-Hajj moon was not sighted anywhere in the country on Tuesday, hence Eid-ul-Azha will be observed on September 2 across Pakistan.

Eid ul Azha is the second of two Muslim Eid holidays celebrated each year, and considered the holier of the two.
