Malaysian shares closed up 0.48 percent Thursday, tracking positive sentiment on Wall Street and regional markets, dealers said. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index gained 5.65 points to 1,186.19. Gainers outnumbered losers 568 to 166. Better-than-expected corporate results from some big-caps helped sustain momentum but there is growing evidence suggesting the index may struggle to climb much higher without correcting, a dealer told Dow Jones Newswires.
Among gainers, builder IJM Land added 10.0 percent to 1.98 ringgit while plantation giant IOI Corp was up 1.60 percent at 5.25. On the downside, Bumiputra-Commerce bank lost 0.20 percent to 10.78 ringgit and AMMB was down 1.40 percent at 4.22.
